STEP 1: Homework
Before we meet, it is imperative that our clients have a good understanding of what they are looking for. What rooms are we working on? What elements are on the must-have list? What’s the budget for the project? We also encourage clients to articulate their visions via magazine clippings and social media. For example, there are many décor websites, like Houzz or Pinterest, that help communicate your design aesthetic to us. Show us the kitchen of your dreams, the bedroom that you never want to leave in the morning, the nursery that rocks both you and your baby.
STEP 2: First Consultation
We begin by meeting you in your home to learn about you and what you are seeking. Then we take a tour, taking note of room size, layout, and light. How do the rooms flow? What architectural details might be incorporated? Is storage a priority? Are there family treasures you might want to showcase? What are your constraints?
STEP 3: Estimate & Timeline
On the day after our visit, we’ll provide an estimate and timeline for your approval as well as our service agreement. Our estimate usually is a fixed price based on the scope of the project. Whether you are seeking a couple of consultations or a full makeover, we’ll put together a package that works for you.
STEP 4: Concept Creation
During the estimated timeline received with your welcome package, we create our designs. The majority of our conceptual work is completed prior to our presentation. This is when we are busy drafting plans, selecting colours, reviewing finishes, sourcing furniture and accessories. Then we present it all to you. You’ll see our concept boards along with samples, swatches, lighting designs, and floor plans, all drawn to scale.
STEP 5: Presentation
Our aim at this stage is to clearly communicate our ideas and suggestions so that we may move forward together. You will receive a personalized folder that will incorporate your concepts with ours. It will include a purchase list that details the accessories, finishes andfurnishings we recommend along with sizes, specifications and pricing. This consultation will help you make your decisions about those items you must have and those for which you’d prefer alternatives.
STEP 6: Wrap-Up
Our presentations are never a take-it-or-leave-it kind of thing. We work with our clients until they are happy with the final choices and are confident to move on to placing orders. We reserve the next two weeks for the Wrap Up phase. During this time, we source any alternatives, finalize selections, request approvals on purchase orders, apply payments to products and place all orders.
STEP 7: Coordinating Deliveries
Now our logistical experience and expertise kick in when we coordinate everything so you don’t have to.
STEP 8 (Decor): Sourcing Small Accessories
Before our final reveal, we head to multiple local shops for small accessories to pull it all together. Our clients get to choose what they’d like to keep from our purchases during our reveal and we return the rest.
STEP 9 (Decor): Staging Day
When we start receiving news that all products ordered have been received, we set a date for our reveal during which we manage deliveries, supervise installations and arrange the furniture and accessories. If anything is damaged or needs to be exchanged or returned for any reason, we’ll liaise with the supplier and handle all quality control.
STEP 8 (Reno): Spec Sheets
In order to ensure that construction runs smoothly, we create detailed spec sheets for the trades that will be working on the project.
STEP 9 (Reno): Site Visits
When construction coordination is included, we take on the stress with comprehensive site visits throughout construction. We meet with the contractor, review the details at decision points during the transformation, we handle any bumps along the way.
