Our Saint Alexander Heights project marks the second time we’ve had the pleasure of working with this client. The first? A sprawling 9,000 sq. ft. cottage in the suburbs of Montreal. This time, we shifted gears completely, designing a two-story, four-bedroom condo that serves as a pied-à-terre for our client and his teenage children.

Same client, completely different purpose—so naturally, the aesthetics followed suit. Our goal? To make this space feel like a luxury hotel, always ready to accommodate its guests at a moment’s notice.

First Impressions Matter

Functionality was a top priority, and it starts the moment you walk through the door. We designed a custom built-in entryway, seamlessly incorporating a closet and home office station into one unit.

One of our favorite details? The white oak desk, designed to pivot. This allows our client to switch to a more private backdrop for video calls, making the space work double duty—without compromising style.

With square footage more limited than their first home, we focused on making the space feel larger. Tall ceilings? Ceiling-mounted curtains. Long hallways? Cohesive flow. Bare walls? Luxurious textured wallpaper that instantly warms up the space.

A Kitchen That Speaks for Itself

The dark and moody kitchen is the epitome of understated luxury. Simple yet striking, its oversized quartz island features a beautifully tapered waterfall edge—a detail that makes all the difference.

The real showstopper? The massive dining room perfect for hosting. Finding a space this large in a condo is rare, so we fully embraced it. The dining table was so grand we actually had to crane it in through the balcony—because there was no other way to get it inside!

A Powder Room with Personality

The textured walls don’t stop at the main living areas. We carried them into the powder room with a stunning Venetian plaster finish in a warm, rich hue. Against this backdrop, the custom marble sink becomes the undeniable focal point, standing out against the neutral-toned walls and cabinetry.

A Staircase That Elevates the Space

Moving upstairs, we transformed the once solid wall staircase into something far more special—a custom flutex glass railing. This detail brings a touch of masculinity while also opening up the staircase to more natural light.

The upper level features four bedrooms, including the principal suite, which we completely reworked to maximize the spectacular views. Now, the bed faces the windows, ensuring our client wakes up to a beautiful cityscape every morning.

A Spa-Like Principal Bathroom

The original bathroom layout wasn’t working. It was open-concept, with the bathtub sitting directly in the bedroom. While trendy in concept, it didn’t fit the functional, hotel-like vision we had for this space. We redesigned it to offer more privacy and luxury, incorporating a closed water closet, separate tub, and a steam shower. The result? A true retreat in the heart of the city.

A True Home Away from Home

This project was all about contrast—between their expansive country home and their stylish city escape, between function and beauty, between sleek minimalism and warm textures.

And in the end? We created a pied-à-terre that feels as welcoming as it is luxurious—ready to host our client and his family whenever they touch down in Montreal.

Would you transform your condo into a luxury retreat? We’d love to hear your thoughts!
