A project isn’t finished when the furniture arrives.

There’s a point in many design projects where everything is technically done. The construction is complete. The furniture has been delivered. The lighting is installed. The window treatments are up.

And yet, something is still missing.

For us, this is one of the most important parts of the entire project.

The final layer is what takes a beautifully designed space and makes it feel complete. It’s the bedding on the bed, the books on the shelves, the objects collected on a coffee table, the towels in the bathroom and the pieces that make a home feel considered, personal and ready to actually live in.

It’s also a stage of the design process that is often overlooked.

At Hibou, styling isn’t an afterthought. It’s part of our full-service design process, and something we believe makes a significant difference in the final result.

After months, and sometimes years, of designing, planning, sourcing and overseeing a project, we don’t want to leave our clients with beautiful furniture surrounded by empty shelves and unfinished surfaces.

We want them to walk into a home that feels done.

That’s why we created our Styling Day service.

Our team arrives with everything we need to put the final layer into place. We style shelves, coffee tables, consoles, kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms. Depending on the project and our client’s needs, that can mean accessories and artwork, but it can also go much further: bedding, bath linens, dinnerware, glassware, serving pieces and the everyday essentials that make a home feel fully considered.

We’re not just adding a candle and a throw. We’re completing the home.

WHY WE CREATED HIBOU HOME

Styling an entire home requires a lot of product. And sourcing those pieces traditionally can mean hours spent travelling from store to store, searching for the right objects, buying them, transporting them to site and returning whatever doesn’t work.

When your designer is billing by the hour, that can become a very expensive way to buy a vase.

It was actually one of the reasons we opened Hibou Home.

Having our own store gives our design team access to an ever-changing collection of accessories, tabletop, textiles and objects that we’ve already curated. Instead of trying to predict exactly what will work before we arrive, we can bring more than we think we’ll need and make those decisions where they should be made: in the space itself.

Because sometimes the piece we thought would be perfect isn’t. Sometimes a shelf needs something taller. A coffee table needs less. A bedroom needs another layer of texture. You don’t really know until you see everything together.

Styling on site gives us the freedom to play, edit and refine until the room feels right.

AN IN-HOME SHOPPING EXPERIENCE

The best part is that our clients don’t have to commit to any of it beforehand.

Once we’ve finished styling, they get to experience their home completely transformed. They can walk through each room, see everything in context and decide what they want to keep.

We take care of the rest.

There’s no pressure to imagine whether something will work. No ordering accessories online and hoping the scale is right. No driving around with returns in the trunk for three weeks.

You see it in your home. You love it, you keep it. You don’t, we take it back.

It’s essentially a private, in-home shopping experience curated specifically for your space.

The finishing touches may happen at the very end of a project, but they have an outsized impact on how a home looks and feels.

They create warmth. They bring personality. They soften the newness of a renovation and make even the most beautifully designed rooms feel lived in.

Most importantly, they give our clients the experience we want them to have at the end of a project: walking into their home and feeling like there is nothing left to do.

Because for us, full-service design means exactly that.
