One major advantage that you have when working with an interior designer is that when things go wrong, you don’t have to put up with it. You just call your designer and we’ll be doing all the arguing, the negotiating. We’ll be the ones to fire the bad tile layer. We’ll run around the city to return that defective fabric or to find a replacement for that piece we’ve been waiting for the last three weeks, that is suddenly no longer available. You pay an hourly rate for the work and time that is in your control. When things go bad, you have backup – kind of like an insurance.
This week I got so frustrated with the situations that are out of my control that reflect badly on me, I started to think that I was doing something wrong. Then I got those special words of encouragement that I needed. I had the pleasure of working with a couple who were really sent to me at the right time. They were very happy with my service and design advice, so much so that I got a referral from them that called me within the same week. Referrals are really the best form of flattery!
The conclusion to this week is that I will be confident in what I do as long as I strive to provide the best possible service. I can’t control the hiccups along the way so there’s no point in getting so frustrated with them. Ahhhh… peace of mind.
