Apparently, a big no no in design is glossy ceilings. Some designers will ONLY ever paint their ceilings white matte. Others, refuse to keep a simple white ceiling and always go with an off white or another very pale color so that the ceiling does not draw attention. I disagree! Why not use the usually neglected ceiling as part of the design? Why not accentuate it? I feel that a glossy ceiling makes a room look taller and reflects all of the right colors found in the space below. The question is: how to attain a very reflective ceiling? The first step is to make sure that you’re working with a perfectly even surface. If so, you can use a high gloss paint which is the cheapest option but for the best results, a stretch vinyl is the way to go. Futura is a Montreal based company that specializes in stretched ceilings and walls. Rates start at $8/sq. ft.Colors are also a great way to bring out your ceiling. I have a light blue on my bathroom ceiling and I absolutely love it!
