I hate to use the word trendy simply because I know trends come and go and that’s not my design style. I prefer the word timeless. The problem with timeless is that many people think that it means boring. If you are one of those people, please read my blog: Boring Now = Timless Later. Nonetheless, people still want trendy, or for lack of better words, let’s call it stylish. Here are my top 3 finishes that I believe to be as timeless as they are stylish.1- White MarbleThere is something about white marble that screams class. Yes, I do think that you can overdo it if you’re not careful, but when used correctly, white marble can create a timeless, yet very stylish look.
In this photo, they may have to repaint the kitchen in 10 years but that white marble will never have to be changed.
When it comes to flooring, the colour matters. Although, I’m a strong believer that different woods can be mixed and that all wood is beautiful, there are a couple trends that you want to stay away from when choosing the flooring throughout your house.
Here are two big trends to avoid:
Very dark wood: This style came and went and is just not practical for most people. After a few years, we see every scratch and every strand of pet hair, which crosses out everyone with either pets or kids.
Grey wood: Yes, it’s super in now but grey, like beige will not be around forever. In a few years you will be saying: “Oh that floor was so 2014”.
